Marcia Henry has been pulling yellow yam from the red earth of Brown's Town since 1987. For most of those seasons, her best harvest was also her most vulnerable one — a long morning at the higglers' lane, a price dictated by whoever turned up, and a choice between taking it or carrying the load home. Now, her yams go straight from the field to the Mandeville collection hub, where they are graded, weighed and listed online before sundown. Buyers — hotels, restaurants, households across 14 parishes — see her farm, her harvest date and her photo before they bid. The price reflects the crop, not the morning's mood.
Across our 2024 producer survey, Jamaican growers selling through FarmersMarket JA reported earning 38% more per harvest than the prevailing higglers' lane price for comparable grade. That uplift is the difference between a child staying in school and a new irrigation line going in.

Each SKU on the platform is linked to its grower, its parish and the date the crop left the field. Tap the QR code on any delivered crate or receipt and you will see the farm name, the harvest window, the RADA verification status, and — for fish — the boat, the cove and the landing time. Built with the Rural Agricultural Development Authority and audited quarterly by the Jamaica Agricultural Society.
